This is Chucho the octopus. He is the one who bites the leg off
Mondongo the pirate. Later, Redbeard cuts off one of Chucho's legs
and puts it into a soup.

economic downturn aside, this fireplace is so cute. We 'value
engineered' ours out of the house project, but this looks like a
feasible way of getting it back in. Too bad fireplaces are so bad for
air quality and so limit the number of ways you can arrange the
furniture in a small house... Maybe we'll just leave this on the back
burner to simmer a bit longer before we decide.

My boy

As we were in the car coming home from a birthday party yesterday, I
said fondly,"Vincent, you're my boy."
He said, "You're my boy too, Mama."

house rules

These are the two rules at our house:
- no being rude*
- no hurting other people

if you break a rule, you get a warning which tells you the
consequence. If we are not clever enough to think of a natural
consequence, you get a 3 minute timeout.

Vincent and Jorge on the 4th of July at Samantha and J.O.B.'s house. Vincent was crazy for fireworks. I was so pregnant I couldn't walk up the hill to watch the fireworks over downtown, so we just watched them from the car driving home. It was good enough for Vincent, and actually and informative show for us about where in town you can see good displays.
